I had been hearing about Mah Jongg for the last few years and wondered what it was all about. I didn’t have a mom or aunt or anyone playing this as I was growing up so I knew nothing about it. I missed out on all the mah jongg stories that friends shared about their moms and relatives with playing, eating and chit chatting. I had a few friends that played but I was too busy working, exercising and raising my kids. Finally, one day, my client, Marsha Temlock mentioned that she played mah jongg and I asked if she would teach me. So, I was brought into the web of mah jongg madness and I became her protege. I was invited to a neighbor of Marsha’s and I and another acquaintance who was a neighbor were two newbies with Marsha and her neighbor. We played a few times, but the other newbie dropped out and I was busy working, so, for awhile it was put on hold. However, I did pick it up again and decided to take lessons. I practiced and played every week and eventually a group of us formed and have been continuing to play. At mah jongg I heard a few people saying that they play canasta. Canasta? I never heard about this either! LOL. So now I had to learn to play Canasta and play both games. They are a great outlet for me since I work selling real estate in Westport and all the surrounding towns. Of course, if you have any real estate questions I am always available to help – DebraCarson.raveis.com.
